Tosin is a member of the American Nurses Association, American Public Health Association, and Howard County Local Health Improvement Coalition (HCLHIC) workgroup. The Program is funded by a grant from Kaiser Permanente National Community Benefit Fund at the East Bay Community Foundation. To bring more of these valuable experiences and voices into public health, Kaiser Permanente has partnered with the American Public Health Association to launch a program in 2021 that provides a 1-year, full-time, competitively paid fellowship for Masters of Public Health graduates, prioritizing first-time students from underserved communities and people of color. As the 2017 Public Health Fellow in Government, I was lucky enough to serve as a policy advisor for Representatives Alcee L. Hastings, D-Fla., and Diana DeGette, D-Colo. During my time with Rep. Hastings, I gained valuable experience in the legislative process by managing the portfolio on health, appropriations, environment, housing, science and technology. As a community health nurse leader, Tosin has served in various roles at Maryland local health departments and is passionate about health policy.
